Ciri-Ciri Syair :
1. Setiap bait terdiri atas empat baris.
2. Setiap baris terdiri atas 8 hingga 14 suku kata.
3. Semua baris merupakan isi.
4. Syair bersajak aaaa.
5. Setiap bait syair tidak sanggup bangun sendiri.
6. Biasanya, setiap baris terdiri atas empat kata.

Unsur-Unsur Syair
Syair terdiri atas unsur fisik dan unsur batin. Unsur fisik syair mencakup rima, irama, diksi, citraan, majas, dan tipografi.
Rima, yaitu pengulangan bunyi
Irama, yaitu penjang pendek, keras lembut bunyi (ucapan)
Diksi, yaitu pilihan kata
Citraan, yaitu efek yang sanggup ditangkap melalui panca indera
Majas, yaitu gaya bahasa
Tipografi, yaitu susunan baris dan bait dalam syair

Sedangkan struktur batin puisi atau disebut unsur intrinsik mencakup tema, nada, suasana, dan pesan atau amanat.

6. Gunakan gaya bahasa

Contoh Penerapan Langkah Menulis Syair
Misalnya kita sudah memilih tema, yaitu "Pentingnya Mencari Ilmu".

Langkah selanjutnya kita harus memilih tujuan dan amanat syair yang akan kita buat.
Contoh : Tujuan : Menyadarkan insan akan pentingnya mencari ilmu
               Amanat : Manusia harus menyadari bahwa mencari ilmu ialah hal yang sangat penting
Setelah kita menetukan tema, tujuan dan amanat, langkah selanjutnya ialah menulis kata-kata kunci pada tiap baitnya.
